"A PAINTERLY APPROACH TO PORTRAIT DRAWING"
I've been invited to teach a workshop at Alia Fine Art Studios in Raleigh, North Carolina. I'm very excited to visit Alia's studios next spring 2019. Come join me for this 3 day drawing workshop.
I co-curated this exhibition of drawings with my husband Jordan Sokol at The Florence Academy of Art in Jersey City. The show is up until June 29th and showcases an extraordinary selection of drawings by over thirty of today's leading figurative artists.
You can see my most recent drawing, "The Last Strands of Winter', my tiny contribution using a mixed media technique of gouache, pencil, conte, charcoal and white chalk on hand toned paper mounted on Dibond.
Here is an image of my drawing, during the last days of completion, checking the texture on the surface.
As I was planning to work with layers of dry and wet media I found it extremely useful to work on a preliminary little concept drawing to understand the order of the layering and have a clear idea of the light effect.
